On Sunday, February 5, Massachusetts lost another World Championship shooter, William “Fritz” Wiedergott.
Fritz was inducted into the NSSA Hall of Fame in 1988 and and served as one of the NSSA’s National Directors for Massachusetts. He was a long-time member of Minute Man Sportsman Club, where the clubhouse walls display some of his greatest achievements, including his World Championship title. Friends point out that Fritz was a true gentleman, loving husband, wonderful father, and a class act. He was an inspiration to many and a fierce competitor to others, but all had the same opinion of him off the skeet field: he was an exceptional man.
Fritz’s wishes were to have a private service for family members, and friends ask that you respect the family’s privacy at this time of loss. The MSSA (with permission of his family) will be planning a special event in the future to memorialize Fritz. Details will be forthcoming. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Fritz make a donation to the charity of your choice.
NSSA extends its condolences to Fritz’s family and friends.
