Nominations will open April 1 for members of the NSSA Board of Directors, the first governing body to be elected this year for the 2027-2028 term. Each state, province, U.S. military service branch and other regions will elect at least one Director, with the number based on the number of members counted there as of December 31, 2025. Those elected will serve a two-year term beginning January 1, 2027.
Members who wish to run for the position must submit a nomination form with the signatures of five NSSA members from the same state/province/territory/branch or with the endorsement of their state association. NSSA will post the number of Directors for each entity, along with the nomination form, on the MyNSSA.com homepage. Members with an email address on file will also receive a nomination form and the list of Director positions by email.
Please note the submission procedure for nominations below:
Nomination forms will be submitted to this email address: NSSAElection@nssa-nsca.com. Once your nomination form has been vetted for having met all requirements, you will receive an email advising that it has been received and accepted. If all requirements are not met, you will receive an email explaining what is needed to complete your submission. If you don’t receive an email, please allow three (3) business days after your submission before contacting us at NSSAElection@nssa-nsca.com to check on it. If you are running for a position, please add NSSAElection@nssa-nsca.com to your address book to ensure you receive our email.
A new feature for this election will be the ability of candidates to provide a short bio to allow voters to make informed decisions. A link will be provided for candidates to enter their information online, and voters will be provided with a link to review the candidates’ bios.
Candidates and endorsing members must be current, paid NSSA members; Complimentary Limited Membership (CLM) members and Crossfire (NSCA) members are not eligible. Military members (active duty, veteran, or retired) may run for and vote in either their state of residence or their branch of service.
During the nomination period, we will post daily updates of nominees on our website so members will know if positions have adequate nominees to fill positions and who is running for the positions in their state. The deadline for Director nominations is April 23.
Ballots will be distributed by email by the first Monday in May (May 4) to all voting members with an email address on file. Voting will close on May 31.
Following the election of Zone 1-9 Directors, Directors-at-Large will be elected. Directors-at-Large will be nominated following a similar procedure as other Directors: Candidates will complete a nomination form with endorsement signatures, and current Directors will vote on them by electronic ballot.
