2018 Ladies Charity Skeet Classic Canceled

January 15, 2018 By Sherry Kerr

Due to recent circumstances beyond their control, the organizers of the Ladies Charity Skeet Classic announce that they must cancel this year’s event, which was to have been held April 13-15, 2018. Unforeseen health situations have made it impossible for them to do the preparation in time for this year’s shoot.

Louise Terry and Barry Rich stated, “We do want to encourage the ladies who were planning to attend and who are interested to go ahead with the traditional ‘Cash for the Kids’ campaign in your home areas. Responding to suggestions from several of our participants in 2017, we expanded our 2018 target charities to include both Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) youth shooting programs and Ronald McDonald House Charities. Both are bona fide 501(c)(3) charities, so all donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. You, and any of your donors, will be able to specify a preference for their donation to be directed to one or the other, or both split 50/50.”

You can start your efforts anytime from now to April 15 and mail your proceeds to:

    Barry Rich
    388 Harper St.
    Chattanooga, TN 37405

Checks should be made payable to either Ronald McDonald House Charities or the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF). All donations will be acknowledged for tax purposes.

To recognize donors’ help in keeping their event going, the LCSC organization will award prizes to the top two ‘Cash for the Kids’ fundraisers.

“We realize there are a number of you who have already started to make plans to attend the shoot this April,” said Terry and Rich, “and we sincerely apologize for having to make this tough decision at this late moment. We will keep everyone informed as to future plans and our ‘Cash for the Kids’ results after April 15.

“Thank you to all of our ladies who have been past participants for your continued interest, your loyalty, and most of all for your support. We hope to have things back on track for 2019! If you have any questions, please give either of us a call or drop an email.”

Texan Skeet Shooter Richard Haas Passes

November 3, 2017 By Sherry Kerr

Richard Charles Haas, 69, of Lakeway, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, in Lakeway.

Richard attended Texas A&M University and graduated with a BBA in Marketing with the Class of 1970. Upon graduation he went to work for Mercantile Bank in Corpus Christi, then in the oil and gas industry for many years before starting his own business, Pinnacle Royalty and Operating Company.

He was an avid skeet shooter who won many awards and contributed a great deal to the community both by giving his time and providing financial support for youth shooters and the A&M shooting team. At the time of his death, he was the Vice President of Vortex Tools, LLC, and President of the recently established Poco Loco Operating, LLC.

Richard is preceded in death by his father, Richard E. Haas, his mother, Louise C. Haas, and his sister, Trevlyn J. Haas. He is survived by his wife, five daughters, a step-son, and eight grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a favorite charity of Richard’s.

To have your registered shoots listed in the February 2018 issue of Clay Target Nation, two steps are required by November 30:

  • Membership renewal
  • Complete an NSSA Registered Shoot Application and submit it to your state/ provincial association for approval. The association will submit approved shoots to NSSA.

ADDRESS CHANGES: Regardless of how you renew, please be sure to update all your contact information to ensure prompt and accurate delivery of your important club benefits. When you click the NSSA Club Renewal Form and enter your club member number, the information on file for your club will populate the form for updating. You may also provide it by phone at 1-800-877-5338 ext. 122.

REGISTERING 2018 SHOOTS

Download and complete the Registered Skeet Shoot Application form and send it to your State/Provincial Association for shoot date approval. It is important for you to specify if the shoot is Notable, Zone, State (Provincial), or International.

Approved shoot applications must be received at headquarters by November 30, 2017, for your shoots to be included in the February 2018 issue of Clay Target Nation.

Thank you for renewing your club membership. Your participation assures the growth and continuation of skeet for the next generation.
